COUN 007 Student Life Success 3.0 Units
Transferable to UC/CSU
Hours: 48-54 lecture
An exploration of the sociological, physiological, psychological, and intellectual factors that impact student’s academic and personal success over a lifetime. Topics
include: accepting personal responsibility, discovering self-motivation, mastering self-management, employing interdependence, increasing self-awareness, adopting life-long learning, developing emotional intelligence, and believing in one’s self.  UC limitation of credit: 3 units Counseling courses numbered 001-009.

Technical Requirements

  • Any recent computer (purchased within the past five years) should have the minimum hardware required
  • Macintosh or Windows operating system
    Note: Android and iOS devices will likely not provide the functionality necessary to build a fully effective online learning environment
  • A broadband internet connection is strongly recommended (DSL, cable, 4G, etc.) - you will likely encounter frustration if you try to take an online class while using dialup

Hours Required

This is a sixteen week course. Course completion, which includes readings, online discussions, and assignments, will take approximately six (6) hours per week.

Browse around, exploring the different links, to get your bearings. Try not to let this new format overwhelm you! The list of links on the left side of the page is called Course Navigation, and the course content begins with Getting Stated in the Modules area of the course. Once you have viewed each of the pages within the Getting Started module, complete the discussion and assignment. Each Monday, the next module will appear on the Course Modules page.

Discussions 

This class models effective use of online tools to facilitate learning, including discussion. Regular participation in the threaded discussions for the four weeks of the course is a requirement to earn a certificate of completion. The Discussions link on Course Navigation is one way to access this tool, and a link is also provided in each lesson module. Click on a discussion to read its prompt and posts from others. Once inside a discussion, click on the Reply icon to compose a reply and make your own contribution.
