HOURS: 64-72 lecture. COURSE DESCRIPTION: The development of critical thinking, reading, and writing skills as they apply to the analysis of fiction, poetry and drama, literary criticism, and related non-fiction from diverse cultural sources and perspectives. Emphasis is on the techniques and principles of effective written argument as they apply to literature. NOTE: Essay examinations, critical papers, and some research projects are required.
